There are some safety measure you should employ to allow faster processing of your checks. Use magnetic ink to print the banks routing number and your account number so that the check can be processed automatically and run through a non-optical reader, which most institutions currently use to process checks. You should also use special check paper which has security features to protect you from check forgers.
There are many security features in use to prevent photocopying and other forging techniques. Security features such as heat sensitive ink, printing on paper that flouresces when placed under ultraviolet light, paper that has dots appear over the signature is copied and an “original document” overprint that appears only on the original document. Also the use of pink thermochromatic ink that disappears at temperatures above 85 degrees make check paper secure. When the ink disappears it verifies that the check is authentic. The printer check cannot be copied or scanned without the ink disappearing.
Printing checks on security paper ensures the authenticity of the check and using magnetic ink makes the check easier to process because, it can be read by non-optical readers. Following these security measures protects the check issuer from forgery or check copying. Most security paper is not available to the general public and so makes the paper safe from copying as well, protecting the check printing process.
